Unfortunately it has been a while since my last post, but I am back with a great recipe for delectable handmade, homemade, Oreo truffles. This is an easy to make, super tasty recipe for chocolate truffles. Give it a go! Your taste buds will not be disappointed 🙂
3 packets of Oreo sandwich biscuits (minus a couple you may eat along the way! 😉 ) *approx. 450g
1.5 small trays of Philadelphia Light soft cheese *approx. 270g
Place the Oreo cookies in a large resealable freezer bag. Seal the bag and crush the biscuits using a rolling pin. Have fun (but take care not to break the bag)!
Once sufficiently crushed, transfer the crumbs into a bowl (if using a hand blender) or into your blender bowl. Do not worry if you have many large pieces left; you can take a potato masher and smash them further by hand, but the blender will also take care of it for you.
Add the Philadelphia into the bowl and blend. I recommend adding the soft cheese in 2 or 3 portions in order to let the blending action be more thorough.
Once blended thoroughly, place the bowl in the freezer for approx. 25 minutes. The idea is to help the mixture harden, not freeze.
Remove the mix from the freezer and roll into small balls, placing them on a baking sheet.
If the mix is very soft or gooey, place the balls back into the freezer for a little longer to enable them to harden further before finishing off the truffles.
Prepare your cocoa: sift the cocoa powder onto a flat plate.
Once ready, remove the naked truffles from the freezer. Roll the balls around in the cocoa powder, gently flattening them as you go along – this will help the cocoa powder stick to the truffle.
Your truffles are almost ready! Place them on a flat surface and refrigerate until firm and ready to serve.
These Oreo Truffles are very rich and tasty. You will need to store them in the refrigerator (… if you have any leftovers).
See you again soon 🙂
